Catering for adult learners through the Transformation of Higher Education

This article highlights some pertinent points in preparing Human Capital with first-class mentality through Higher Education. In relating to the role higher education institutions (HEIs) play in preparing just the quality of graduates, this article capitalises the areas of concern underpinning the 9 th Malaysian Plan and the Ministry of Higher Education Strategic Plan. With this information set as the background, the article further explores the challenges faced by university students in meeting the challenges of the Higher Education Transformation agenda. It does so by focussing on the challenges faced by the postgraduate students who fall under the category of adult learners. Some issues are raised to direct further considerations on the transformation needed for the ‘adult learners’ in fulfilling the requirements of the 9 th Malaysian Plan and most importantly, in following the Ministry of Higher Education Strategic Plan.
